Black Mama, White Mama is a 1973 women's prison exploitation film directed by Eddie Romero. The film stars Pam Grier as Lee Daniels, a revolutionary who is serving time in a Filipino prison and Margaret Markov as Karen, a privileged harem-girl who is also imprisoned. The film also features Sid Haig as Ruben, a corrupt sheriff who is after the women.
After a prison riot, Lee and Karen are bound together by chains and sent on a journey to another prison. The women bicker and fight throughout the journey but eventually develop a grudging respect for each other. As they travel through the jungle, they encounter a gang of criminals who are after them for the valuable gems that Karen stole from her harem. The women are able to hold their own against the gangsters, with Lee's revolutionary training and Karen's seductive skills.
Meanwhile, a group of revolutionaries led by Ernesto (played by Vic Diaz) are also after Lee, as she is a valuable member of their cause. Ruben is hot on their heels, determined to capture the women and take credit for their capture. The women are caught in the middle of the gangsters and the revolutionaries, leading to a violent shootout that leaves many dead.
In the end, Lee and Karen are able to escape their chains and flee into the wilderness, where they are free to plot their next move. The film ends with a shot of the two women, still chained together, running through the jungle and laughing.
