Black as Night is a horror movie that centers on a teenage girl named Shawna. Shawna is a shy, introverted girl with low self-esteem. She is struggling to adapt to her new surroundings in a high crime and poverty-ridden area of New Orleans.
One night, while walking home from a shift at a local gas station, Shawna witnesses a group of vampires attacking a homeless man. Terrified and unable to call for help, Shawna makes a run for it, narrowly escaping the vampire's clutches.
Determined to protect her community and herself, Shawna decides to take action. With the help of her best friend, Jamal, and a mysterious and wealthy classmate named Devon, Shawna goes on a mission to hunt down and destroy the vampires that lurk in the shadows of their city.
As Shawna becomes more empowered from her experiences battling the undead, she also begins to develop a deeper relationship with Jamal, the boy she's always had feelings for. With their friendship blossoming into romance, Shawna finds new strength to face her personal insecurities and confront the demons within herself.
