In Black and Blue, Alicia West (played by Naomie Harris) is a rookie cop who witnesses corrupt officers, led by Terry Malone (played by Frank Grillo), murder a drug dealer in their custody. Alicia's body cam captures the entire incident, making her a target as the corrupt officers pursue her through the night to destroy the footage and silence her.
As Alicia tries to outrun and evade the corrupt officers, she turns to her old friend Milo Jackson (played by Tyrese Gibson) for help. However, things get worse when the corrupt officers tip off a criminal gang that Alicia is responsible for the drug dealer's death, making her a target for both the police and the criminals.
As she fights to survive and expose the corrupt officers, Alicia begins to realize that the problem runs deeper than just a few bad apples in the police force. She is forced to confront the systemic racism and corruption that plague her department and her community.
Black and Blue is a tense and action-packed thriller that addresses important issues of police brutality and corruption, as well as racial tensions in America. It was directed by Deon Taylor and premiered in October 2019.
