In Big Daddy, Adam Sandler plays Sonny Koufax, a 30-something slacker who has never quite grown up. When his girlfriend Vanessa (played by Kristy Swanson) threatens to leave him because of his irresponsibility, Sonny hatches a plan to prove that he can handle mature responsibilities by adopting a young boy named Julian (played by Cole Sprouse).
However, Sonny soon realizes that taking care of a child is harder than he thought. He struggles with the day-to-day responsibilities of feeding, bathing and entertaining Julian. He seeks the help of his friend Kevin (played by Jon Stewart) and even hires a nanny named Corinne (played by Leslie Mann), who he eventually falls in love with.
As Sonny begins to develop a bond with Julian, he finds that his intentions for adopting the boy were not purely to impress his girlfriend but also to fill a void in his own life. He becomes a caring and responsible father figure, teaching Julian important life lessons and providing him with love and support.
However, trouble arises when Julian's biological father appears and wants to take him back. Sonny finds himself in a custody battle, desperately trying to prove that he is a better parent than the absent dad. In the end, Sonny wins the case and he and Julian continue their life together.
Big Daddy is a heartwarming comedy that explores the unexpected joys and challenges of parenthood, and showcases Adam Sandler's comedic talents alongside the adorable Cole Sprouse.
