Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a 2007 Indian horror comedy film directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja. The film is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, which was also remade in several other Indian languages.
In the movie, Siddharth (played by Shiney Ahuja) is a psychiatrist based in US who comes to India with his newlywed wife Avni (played by Vidya Balan) to visit his ancestral home in Rajasthan. The ancestral home is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a dancer named Manjulika, who was killed by her lover and is seeking revenge.
Siddharth ignores the warnings of his family members and decides to stay in the mansion. However, as soon as he and his wife move in, they begin to experience strange and terrifying events. Siddharth starts to believe that the ghost of Manjulika is haunting them.
To solve the mystery, Siddharth calls on his friend and fellow psychiatrist Aditya (played by Akshay Kumar) to help him. Aditya is skeptical about ghosts and believes that the events can be explained scientifically. However, as he investigates the case, he begins to realize that there might be some truth to the ghostly hauntings.
