Beyond the Poseidon Adventure is a 1979 American disaster film directed by Irwin Allen, and it is a sequel to The Poseidon Adventure, which was released in 1972. The movie stars Michael Caine, Sally Field, Karl Malden, Telly Savalas, Peter Boyle, Jack Warden, Shirley Knight and Slim Pickens.
In the film, a group of treasure hunters led by Captain Mike Turner (Michael Caine) and his crew sneak aboard the overturned SS Poseidon to loot the ship for treasure. They soon find that they are not alone, as another group of scavengers, led by Frank Mazzetti (Telly Savalas), is also on board seeking riches.
Turner and Mazzetti are bitter enemies, and their rivalry leads to numerous clashes and near-fatal encounters as they search for the cargo. In the midst of this drama, they come into contact with a small group of survivors who are still trapped on the ship, including a young woman (Sally Field) and her wounded companion (Jack Warden).
As they explore the ship, Turner and his crew discover a cache of plutonium, which they hope to sell on the black market for a hefty profit. However, the discovery of the plutonium attracts unwanted attention from the authorities, who are concerned about the possibility of a terrorist attack.
While Turner and Mazzetti are locked in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, the survivors struggle to stay alive. With time running out and the ship's structural integrity in question, the characters must work together to find a way to escape before it sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
