Beyond the Line

War  N/A

Beyond the Line is a World War II drama film written and directed by Jason Mills. The film follows the story of two Allied soldiers, Corporal John Hartman (Chris Walters) and Private Benjamin Weems (Jackson Berlin), who are separated from their platoon during the Battle of the Bulge and find themselves stranded behind enemy Nazi lines.

With no way to communicate with their headquarters and no means of transportation, John and Benjamin must navigate through the harsh winter landscape and evade German patrols to find a way back to their lines. Along the way, they come across a group of French Resistance fighters, who provide them with shelter and help them in their fight against the Germans.

As they face hunger, hypothermia, injuries, and constant danger, John and Benjamin struggle to maintain their will to survive and resist the temptation to give up and accept defeat. They also confront doubts about their mission and their loyalty to their country, as they witness the horrors of war and the human toll it takes on both sides.

The film explores themes of camaraderie, courage, sacrifice, and patriotism, as well as the moral complexities of war and the bonds that can be forged even under the most adverse circumstances. Beyond the Line was shot on location in Canada and France, with an international cast and crew. It was released in 2020 and has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its authentic portrayal of the WWII era and its emotional resonance.
