Beyond the Door is a 1974 Italian-American horror film directed by Ovidio G. Assonitis and Robert Barrett. The story revolves around Jessica Barrett, played by Juliet Mills, who lives with her husband and two children in San Francisco. When she becomes pregnant with her third child, she begins to experience strange and terrifying visions.
As the pregnancy progresses, Jessica's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent. She attacks her husband and even attempts to harm her own children. Her concerned husband seeks medical help, but the doctors are unable to explain her condition. It soon becomes clear that Jessica is possessed by a demonic entity, and her family is in grave danger.
As they desperately search for a solution, a mysterious man named Dimitri approaches Jessica and offers to help. He claims to be an expert in exorcisms and offers to perform one on Jessica. However, his methods are unorthodox, and he warns the family that the exorcism may require them to make a great sacrifice.
As the demonic entity within Jessica grows stronger, the family must decide whether to trust Dimitri and risk everything to save their loved one. The film is notable for its use of innovative special effects and its intense focus on the horrors of demonic possession.
