In the sequel to the popular 1984 action-comedy Beverly Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Detroit cop Axel Foley. This time, Axel heads to Beverly Hills to help his friend and former boss, Captain Andrew Bogomil, who has been shot by a group of criminals led by a man named Maxwell Dent.
As Axel investigates the shooting, he discovers that Dent (played by Jürgen Prochnow) is a notorious weapons dealer who is responsible for a series of robberies in the area. With the help of his trusty sidekicks Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), Axel begins to unravel Dent's criminal empire.
Along the way, Axel also reconnects with a former love interest, Jenny Summers (played by Lisa Eilbacher), who is now working as a high-end art dealer. As Axel and his friends get closer to Dent, they find themselves in increasingly perilous situations, including a high-speed chase through the streets of Beverly Hills and a showdown at Dent's mansion.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, Beverly Hills Cop II was a box office success, grossing over $153 million worldwide. It also spawned another sequel, Beverly Hills Cop III, which was released in 1994.
