Beowulf, a skilled warrior of the Geats, hears of a monster terrorizing a Danish village, killing and devouring its inhabitants. He sets sail with his men to aid King Hrothgar, offering to slay the beast known as Grendel in exchange for treasure.

Beowulf confronts Grendel in hand-to-hand combat, unarmed and relying on his strength and fearlessness. He manages to mortally wound the creature, who later dies from his injuries. However, Beowulf's triumph is short-lived, as Grendel's vengeful mother seeks to avenge her son's death.

Beowulf ventures into the creature's underwater lair to face her, armed with a magical sword. The fierce battle ends with both combatants dead, leaving the village at peace.

Years later, Beowulf becomes king of the Geats and a dragon attacks his kingdom, leading Beowulf to once again prove his bravery in battle. The movie ends with Beowulf's funeral, showcasing his legendary status and the impact he had on the people he saved.
