Beneath Us is a suspenseful thriller that highlights the exploitation and abuse that undocumented immigrants face in the United States. The film centers around a couple, Liz and Ben Rhodes, who hire a group of Mexican workers to renovate their home. The workers, desperate for work, agree to work for low wages under the table.
As the days go by, the workers become suspicious of their employers and discover that they are being held captive in the Rhodes' basement. The couple plans to sell them off to human traffickers for a large profit. The workers must band together to find a way to escape before it's too late.
The film stars Lynn Collins as Liz Rhodes and Rigo Sanchez as Alejandro, one of the workers who becomes a leader in the group's fight for freedom. Directed by Max Pachman, the movie sheds light on a difficult and often ignored issue in our society and raises awareness for the plight of undocumented workers.
