Belmonte follows the story of Javi Belmonte, a successful artist living in Uruguay who is struggling to balance his artistic ambitions with his responsibilities as a father. Javi is a single dad who loves his daughter, Celeste, but finds it difficult to connect with her emotionally, whilst also having a complicated relationship with his ex-wife, whom he is still in love with.
As Javi continues to navigate his personal life, he becomes immersed in his work, which he uses as a means of escape. His passion for art is all-consuming, but at times it conflicts with his role as a father. Javi’s journey of self-discovery sees him questioning his identity and ways to fulfill his personal and familial duties.
Belmonte is a candid portrait of one man’s struggle to find a balance between his creative vision and his familial responsibilities, delving into the complexities inherent in being human and the toll it takes on one's relationships with others.
