Belle Époque is a Spanish comedy-drama film directed by Fernando Trueba and released in 1992. The film is set in 1931, during the Second Spanish Republic. The main character, Fernando, is a young soldier who is disillusioned with the army and deserts. He seeks refuge on a farm in the countryside, where he meets the farmer, Manolo, and his four beautiful daughters. The girls are fascinated by Fernando's stories of his travels and enchanted by his charming personality.

As the story progresses, Fernando develops a romantic interest in each of the sisters, but he cannot decide which one to pursue. The eldest daughter, Clara, is a widow and a committed feminist. Her younger sister, Violeta, is a shy dreamer who spends most of her time reading romantic novels. Then there is Rocio, the outgoing, flirtatious sister who enjoys the company of men. Finally, there is Luz, the youngest, who is still in school and loves to paint.

The film follows Fernando's attempts to woo each of the sisters and the resulting complications that arise from his indecisiveness. The story is interwoven with the political upheaval of the time, including the rise of fascism and the Spanish Civil War.

Belle Époque was a critical and commercial success, winning the Best Foreign Language Film at the 65th Academy Awards and several Goya Awards. It is a charming and lighthearted film that captures the essence of a bygone era.
