"Belle" is a Japanese animated movie released in 2021, directed by Mamoru Hosoda and produced by Studio Chizu. The film explores the relationship between the real world and a virtual world, and how these two worlds are interconnected.
Suzu is a shy and introverted high school student who spends most of her time alone. She lives with her father, who is a clockmaker, in a small town. One day, she discovers a magical world called "U", an online platform where users can create their avatars and interact with each other.
Suzu creates her avatar named Belle, and she becomes very popular in the U world because of her beauty, kindness, and singing talent. Belle attracts a massive following and soon becomes famous in the virtual world. However, Suzu does not reveal her real identity to her online followers.
Things change when a mysterious dragon-like creature appears in the U world, causing chaos and destruction. Belle and her friends must unite to stop the dragon from destroying the virtual world and possibly even the real world.
As Suzu helps save the virtual world, she also learns to confront her mother's death and gain confidence in herself. The movie highlights the power of technology and the importance of human connection in an increasingly digital world.
