Being Flynn

Being Flynn is a 2012 drama film directed by Paul Weitz and starring Robert De Niro, Paul Dano, and Julianne Moore. The film is adapted from Nick Flynn's memoir Another Bullshit Night in Suck City.

The film follows the story of Nick Flynn (played by Paul Dano), a young writer who is working at a homeless shelter in Boston in his twenties. Nick is estranged from his father, Jonathan Flynn (played by Robert De Niro), who is a self-proclaimed genius writer and poet, but also an alcoholic and homeless man.

As Nick struggles to find his own identity and purpose, he frequently runs into his father at the shelter. Despite their rocky relationship, Nick is constantly reminded of the brilliant and charismatic side of his father that he loved when he was younger.

Their paths converge when Jonathan, who is convinced he is the greatest writer of his generation, decides to seek out his son's help in getting his work published. As they work together on Jonathan's writing, Nick starts to come to terms with his complicated relationship with his father and the impact it has had on his own life.
