Begging for Love is a drama film that tells the story of a Taiwanese man named Tien who travels to his homeland to locate his father's grave. Tien was raised in the United States and has not seen his father for many years before getting the news of his death. Accompanied by his mother, they embark on a journey to find their paternal roots.
However, the trip turns out to be a traumatic experience for Tien as he discovers that his father was a physically abusive man. As Tien revisits his childhood memories of being beaten severely by his father, he also learns that his mother had suffered from the same abuse for over 30 years. Tien's mother had stayed in the marriage for the sake of their family and, upon their return to Taiwan, Tien begins to understand her reasoning.
