The Newton family consists of George, a busy father who runs his own business, Alice, a stay-at-home mom, and their three children, the oldest of whom is a teenage girl named Ryce. They all live in a beautiful house in a comfortable neighborhood, but their lives lack excitement and joy.
One day, while George is at work, a small St Bernard puppy wanders into their yard and into their hearts. They name him Beethoven after the famous composer and take him in as their own. Beethoven quickly grows into a giant dog with a mischievous personality, but he also brings love and happiness to the family.
However, things take a dark turn when they discover that their local vet, Dr. Varnick, has been stealing dogs for his twisted and unethical experiments. Beethoven falls victim to Varnick's plans, and the Newtons must rescue him before it's too late.
The Newtons work together, with the help of a dog trainer and Ryce's crush, a boy named Ted, to save Beethoven and put an end to Dr. Varnick's cruel experiments. In the end, Beethoven becomes a hero, and the Newtons learn the true meaning of family, love, and loyalty.
