Bedknobs and Broomsticks is a 1971 musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney Productions. The film stars Angela Lansbury as Eglantine Price, a would-be witch who teams up with three children - Charlie, Carrie, and Paul - during World War II to search for a magical spell that can help to protect Britain from invading forces. Along the way, they encounter various fantastical creatures and embark on a series of adventures.
The film features a mix of live-action and animation sequences, including a memorable scene in which the group rides a bed that transforms into a flying vehicle. The animation was done by the same animators who worked on Mary Poppins, and the film itself has often been compared to that earlier musical.
Though not as well-known as some other Disney classics, Bedknobs and Broomsticks has gained a cult following over the years, thanks in part to its charming performances and catchy musical numbers. It was nominated for five Academy Awards, winning one for Best Special Visual Effects.
