Beautiful Girls is a 1996 American comedy-drama film directed by Ted Demme and starring an ensemble cast including Matt Dillon, Timothy Hutton, Uma Thurman, and Natalie Portman in her film debut. Set in the small town of Knight's Ridge, Massachusetts, the film follows the lives of a group of childhood friends who are now in their late 20s, but still struggling to find direction in their lives.

Willie Conway (Timothy Hutton), a pianist in New York City, returns home to Knight's Ridge for his high school reunion. While he is there, he reconnects with his old friends. Tommy (Matt Dillon), an aspiring musician and womanizer, is struggling with his relationship with his girlfriend Sharon (Mira Sorvino) and his feelings for her best friend Darian (Lauren Holly). Paul (Michael Rapaport) is a car salesman who is obsessed with a former girlfriend who has moved on. Kev (Max Perlich) is a dorky, lovable guy who is struggling with his own insecurities. And Andera (Uma Thurman) is a sophisticated woman who is visiting Knight's Ridge and catches the attention of many of the guys.

The film explores the themes of love, friendship, and the struggle to find meaning in life. There are moments of humor and sadness throughout, all set against the backdrop of a snowy New England winter.

In addition to the main characters, the film features a memorable performance by Natalie Portman as Marty, a 13-year-old girl who is wise beyond her years and becomes a confidant to Willie. Marty's conversations with Willie provide some of the most poignant moments of the film.

Overall, Beautiful Girls is a well-acted, touching film that explores the complexities of adulthood and the challenges that come with growing up.
