The movie follows Mary Jane, a biologist who is deeply passionate about lepidoptery, the study of moths and butterflies. Mary Jane has a troubled past but finds solace in her son, who she considers to be perfect. However, tragedy strikes when her son dies, leaving Mary Jane devastated and alone. In an attempt to escape the harsh realities of the world, she embarks on a solitary bush project.

As Mary Jane spends more time in the isolated wilderness, she begins to experience strange phenomena. She starts having vivid, disturbing dreams that she can't seem to shake off. Additionally, she discovers strange hybrid creatures that seem to be a mix of moths and animals.

Her life takes a turn when a mysterious stranger arrives on the scene. He offers Mary Jane a chance to be a mother again, restoring her lost sense of purpose and giving her the opportunity to love and care for something again. However, the new family comes at a cost, and Mary Jane finds herself making a series of horrific decisions that threaten her own safety and the safety of those she loves.

As Mary Jane struggles to navigate the bizarre and unsettling world around her, she must come to terms with her past and confront her inner demons. The film is a haunting exploration of grief, loss, and the lengths that people will go to in order to feel whole again.
