Be Cool is a 2005 musical crime-comedy film directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Peter Steinfeld. It is a sequel to the 1995 film Get Shorty and revolves around Chili Palmer, a former loan shark turned Hollywood producer, who is tired of the movie industry and decides to try his hand in the music industry.
The film stars John Travolta as Chili Palmer and Uma Thurman as Edie Athens, the widow of a music executive whom Chili becomes interested in. As Chili enters the music industry, he discovers a talented young singer named Linda Moon (played by Christina Milian) and sets out to make her a star. However, things get complicated as Chili also becomes involved with a gangster rapper named Sin LaSalle (played by Cedric the Entertainer), who is trying to muscle in on Linda's career.
