Together, they plot to escape and seek refuge with the Regional Governor, who they believe will be sympathetic to their plight.

But their hopes are dashed when they discover that the Governor is actually part of the conspiracy that keeps the prison running, and that he has no intention of helping them. This leads to a tense and thrilling climax as Maria and her friends fight for their lives and their freedom.

Barbed Wire Dolls is known for its graphic violence, sexual content, and political message. It is often cited as one of the most influential women in prison films of all time, and has inspired countless imitators and homages over the years.
