Bankrupt Billionaire follows the real-life story of Sean Quinn, an Irish billionaire who built a vast business empire, including a cement company that became the largest in the world. In 2008, Quinn made a massive bet on the share price of Anglo Irish Bank, which was rapidly growing thanks to the Irish property boom.

Quinn poured billions of euros into Anglo, taking out huge loans from the bank to buy its shares. But when the financial crisis hit and the Irish property market collapsed, Quinn's investment imploded, wiping out his fortune and leaving him deeply in debt.

Bankrupt and facing legal action, Quinn went to prison for contempt of court after he tried to hide assets from a court-appointed receiver. But even behind bars, he remained determined to regain control of his former empire and exact revenge on those he believed had wronged him.

The film follows Quinn's quest to claw back his lost fortune, no matter the cost. It shows the lengths he went to, including hiring private investigators to dig up dirt on his opponents and engaging in dirty tricks to undermine their businesses. It also documents the toll his obsession takes on his family and his mental health.

Directed by filmmaker Ian Fitzgibbon, Bankrupt Billionaire offers a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition and the high stakes of the global financial system.
