Band of the Hand is a 1986 action film directed by Paul Michael Glaser and produced by Michael Mann. The film follows a group of young street punks in Miami who are given a second chance by a tough as nails Vietnam veteran named Joe (played by Stephen Lang). Joe takes the five troubled youths, who come from different backgrounds, to the swamps of the Everglades to train them in survival skills and martial arts.

As they train, the group discovers that they share a common goal: to take down the drug lords and pimps who have taken over their city. Armed with their new skills and a sense of brotherhood, the Band of the Hand sets out to clean up the streets of Miami and take back their city.

The Band of the Hand consists of Billy (played by Leon Robinson), a drug addict; Carlos (played by Danny Quinn), a car thief; J.L. (played by James Remar), a former football player turned gang leader; Moss (played by Al Shannon), a tough street kid; and Ruben (played by Michael Carmine), a young graffiti artist.

As they wage war on Miami's criminal underworld, the Band of the Hand faces danger at every turn, including betrayal from within their own ranks. But Joe and his team are determined to see their mission through, no matter what the cost.

Band of the Hand was praised for its action sequences, soundtrack, and cinematography. It also featured notable performances from its young cast, including Robinson and Quinn, who would go on to have successful careers in film and television. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has gained a cult following over the years, thanks in part to its catchy theme song by Bob Dylan.
