Bad Boys is a 1995 American action-comedy film directed by Michael Bay, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as two Miami narcotics detectives, Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. The film follows the two detectives as they tackle their biggest case yet, tracking down a cache of stolen heroin worth millions of dollars.

The movie opens with the robbery and subsequent escape of a group of criminals who have stolen a huge amount of heroin from a secure police storage facility. Marcus and Mike are assigned to the case, but things quickly get complicated when the only witness to a murder related to the theft refuses to testify unless the two detectives swap identities.

Marcus and Mike are forced to assume each other's personalities and lifestyles in order to gain the cooperation of the witness (played by Tea Leoni), leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings and cross-cultural clashes. Meanwhile, the drug kingpin responsible for the theft (played by Tcheky Karyo) begins to close in on the detectives, setting the stage for a chaotic and explosive finale.

The movie was a commercial and critical success, and spawned two sequels, Bad Boys II (2003) and Bad Boys for Life (2020), which reunited Smith and Lawrence as Burnett and Lowrey. The film's combination of fast-paced action, humor, and chemistry between its lead actors has made it a staple of 90s pop culture and an enduring favorite among fans of the buddy cop genre.
