Backstabbing for Beginners is a political thriller movie that showcases the story of a young employee, Michael Sullivan, who joins the United Nations in an idealistic attempt to make a difference. However, he quickly discovers that the politics within the organization are corrupt and disheartening.
Sullivan's predecessor, a brilliant and respected diplomat, suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances, and Sullivan becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind his death. His investigation leads him to a dangerous discovery: the U.N. has been involved in a massive global conspiracy that involves the oil industry, various governments, and his own boss, the charismatic Deputy Secretary-General, Pasha.

It is based on Michael Soussan's memoir of the same name, chronicling his own experiences as a U.N. worker in Iraq.
