Backflash is a 2001 crime thriller movie directed by Philip J. Jones. It follows the story of Lilly, a tough and street-wise woman who has just been released from a sixteen-year sentence in prison for a crime she did not commit. Upon her release, Lilly decides to return to her hometown to discover who the real culprit of her crime was, and to get her life back on track.
In her quest for redemption, Lilly teams up with an old friend, Digger, who owes her a favor. Together they hatch a plan to rob a local mob boss named Eddie "The Snake" (played by Robert Patrick) who is known for his extortion and drug dealings. The duo devises a plan to steal a briefcase full of Eddie's illegal money, and execute a series of clever scams to outwit the savvy mobster.
As they try to pull off the heist, Lilly and Digger encounter several obstacles, including corrupt police officers, double-crossing accomplices, and other unexpected twists. But with Lilly's street smarts and Digger's criminal expertise, they are determined to make the biggest score of their lives.
The movie stars Jennifer Esposito as Lilly, and Carmen Argenziano as Digger, with Melissa Joan Hart and Mike Starr in supporting roles. Backflash is a story about revenge, betrayal, and second chances, and it keeps its audience on the edge of their seats until the very end.
