In Backdraft 2, Sean McCaffrey (played by Joe Anderson) is a veteran firefighter and arson investigator who is still haunted by the death of his father, Steve "Bull" McCaffrey (played by Kurt Russell), who died in the line of duty years ago. Sean is assigned to investigate a string of deadly fires in Chicago that appear to be connected, and he soon discovers that they are the work of a dangerous arsonist.
As Sean digs deeper into the investigation, he begins to suspect that the arsonist is not working alone and that there may be a larger conspiracy at play. He teams up with a fellow firefighter, Maggie Rening (played by Alisha Bailey), and together they uncover a plot involving corrupt politicians and businessmen who are using the fires to cover up their illegal activities.
Along the way, Sean also has to confront his own demons and come to terms with his complicated relationship with his father. In the end, he and Maggie succeed in stopping the arsonist and exposing the truth behind the fires, but not before facing several life-threatening situations themselves.
Backdraft 2 is a sequel to the original Backdraft, which was released in 1991 and starred Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, and Robert De Niro. While Backdraft 2 didn't receive the same critical acclaim as the original, it still provides plenty of action and suspense for fans of the firefighting genre.
