Baby Love

Drama  United Kingdom

"Baby Love" is a psychological thriller directed by Alastair Reid and released in 1968. The film centers around Luci, a young and beautiful woman played by actress Diana Dors, who moves into her deceased mother's house in the hopes of finding love and companionship. Luci's mother was a former prostitute and her daughter has adopted some of her mother's sexual behaviors and desires.

Luci soon becomes fixated on the male tenants in the apartment complex where she lives and begins seducing them one by one. She starts with the middle-aged Mr. Rivers, played by Leo McKern, and then moves on to the young and handsome Matthew, played by Keith Barron. Luci also has a sexual encounter with her mother's former pimp, played by Godfrey Quigley.

As Luci becomes more desperate for love and attention, her behavior becomes increasingly erratic and dangerous. She becomes violent towards those who reject her advances and ultimately drives Matthew to commit a shocking act of violence.

The film explores themes of sexual desire, loneliness, and the psychological effects of childhood trauma. It was controversial at the time of its release due to its explicit sexual content and provocative subject matter. Despite this, "Baby Love" was a commercial success and helped to establish Diana Dors as a sex symbol in the 1960s.
