Baby Jane

Romance,Drama  Finland

Baby Jane is a Finnish drama film directed by Katja Gauriloff. It tells the story of Jane, a young woman from a small town in Finland who moves to Helsinki in search of adventure and new experiences. She's a bit lost and unsure of herself at first, but she quickly adapts and starts exploring the city.

One night, while out at a gay bar, Jane meets Piki, a charismatic and confident butch lesbian who takes an immediate interest in her. Jane is smitten with Piki's charm and energy, and the two quickly become inseparable.

As they start exploring the city together, Piki introduces Jane to her world of queer nightlife and introduces her to her eclectic group of friends. Jane is welcomed with open arms by the group, and she revels in the newfound sense of community and belonging she finds with them.

But as their relationship deepens and Jane falls deeper in love with Piki, she starts to feel the pressure to conform to Piki's expectations of what a queer relationship should look like. Although Piki is supportive and caring towards Jane, she struggles with her own internalized homophobia and her fear of being rejected by her community.

As their differences start to drive a wedge between them, Jane must decide whether to stay true to herself or to try to fit into the mold that Piki has created for her. Ultimately, Baby Jane is a story about love, self-discovery, and the challenges of navigating identity and community in a world that seeks to put us in boxes.
