Felix Greystone is a retired man, having been forced to leave his job earlier than he had planned. He is struggling to find a purpose in life and feels isolated from his family, particularly his wife and daughter. One day, he discovers a revolutionary new technology called Augmenta, a virtual reality system that creates a lifelike companion called Auggie. Felix quickly becomes obsessed with Auggie and spends all his time with her, neglecting his real relationships and responsibilities.
