Attenberg is a 2010 Greek drama film directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari and starring Ariane Labed, Vangelis Mourikis, and Evangelia Randou. The film follows Marina, a young woman who is fascinated by nature documentaries and the music of Suicide. She lives in a Greek industrial town with her father, an architect who has a terminal illness and is preparing for his death. Marina's only friend is Bella, with whom she engages in sexual experimentation. When a new visitor arrives in the town, Marina agrees to compete in a foosball game with him on her own table. The stranger is revealed to be her father's doctor, and their game becomes a metaphor for life and death. As Marina comes to terms with her own mortality and her growing attraction to the doctor, she begins to understand the complex and inexplicable nature of humanity. Attenberg is a poignant and thought-provoking film that explores themes of identity, connection, and the beauty and brutality of the natural world.
