Assimilate is a sci-fi horror film directed by John Murlowski and released in 2019. The movie revolves around three teenage friends, Zach (Joel Courtney), Randy (Calum Worthy), and Kayla (Andi Matichak), who decide to make a web series about their small town of Northfield. As they go about their daily lives and film their surroundings, they start to notice odd behaviors from their neighbors and friends.
They soon discover that a strange organism is taking over the bodies of their neighbors, creating perfect copies of them. These clones are identical in appearance and behavior but are emotionless, lacking any real identity. The teenagers race against time to try and stop the spread of the organism, but it is not easy, as it seems to be able to infect and take over anyone.
Assimilate is a thrilling and horrifying movie that keeps the viewer on edge throughout its runtime. With its well-executed storytelling, expert cinematography, and great performances from its cast, Assimilate is a must-watch for anyone who loves sci-fi horror.
