The 2nd Ranger Battalion is led by Captain Jack Winters, a seasoned veteran who has been in the army for many years. The battalion includes a diverse group of soldiers, including African American, Hispanic, and Native American soldiers.

As they approach the town of Bergstein, they encounter heavy resistance from German soldiers who are positioned on the hill. The Rangers face countless obstacles and challenges as they attempt to take the hill, including mines, barbed wire, and machine gun nests.

During the assault, the Rangers face heavy losses, but they continue to push forward, determined to take the hill and disable the German artillery. Captain Winters and his men use their skills and ingenuity to overcome the obstacles and finally take Hill 400.

However, the victory comes at a great cost, as many of the Rangers are killed or wounded in the battle. As they return to base, the surviving soldiers grapple with the toll of war and try to come to terms with the sacrifices they have made.
