Assassination is a Korean spy thriller directed by Choi Dong-hoon, set in Korea and Shanghai in the 1930s during the Japanese occupation. The story revolves around the government resistance who form a secret commando group to take out collaborators who are working with the Japanese government. The group includes Ahn Ok-yun, a sniper, who is sent to Shanghai to take out a high-ranking Japanese official. Meanwhile, in Korea, the group's leader, Yeom Seok-jin, is tasked with assassinating a powerful Korean business tycoon who is believed to be working with the Japanese. The group's plan, however, is thrown into disarray when a traitor is discovered among them, leading to a deadly game of cat-and-mouse as they try to complete their missions while avoiding detection from Japanese authorities. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Jun Ji-hyun, Ha Jung-woo, and Lee Jung-jae and was a massive commercial hit in Korea, grossing over $84 million at the box office.
