In the movie Ash, reporter Matt Sullivan is investigating a story about illegal logging in the forest near his small town. However, when a wildfire starts and threatens the town, he becomes a suspect in starting the fire. The evidence against him includes witness reports that he was seen near the area where the fire started, and his camera is found with footage that appears to show him starting the fire.
As the investigation heats up, Matt struggles to clear his name and uncover the real culprit. He teams up with a local firefighter, Rachel, who is also suspicious of the evidence against him.
