In the Minimoy world, Arthur meets Princess Selenia and her brother Betameche, who accompany him on his quest to find the rubies and save his family's home. Along the way, they encounter obstacles and danger, including the evil Maltazard, who seeks to destroy the Minimoys. Arthur must use his intelligence and bravery to outwit Maltazard and save his new miniature friends.
The film is a blend of live-action and computer animation, with the Minimoys and their world rendered in intricate detail. The voice cast includes Freddie Highmore as Arthur, Mia Farrow as his grandmother, and Madonna as Princess Selenia. The film was directed by Luc Besson and released in 2006. It was followed by two sequels, Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard and Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds.
