Art & Krimes is a documentary film that follows the journey of Jesse Krimes, an artist who spent six years in federal prison for a non-violent drug offense. During his time behind bars, Krimes faced numerous challenges, including a lack of access to art supplies and limited time outside of his cell.

Despite these obstacles, Krimes was determined to continue creating art. He began using the materials available to him in prison, including bed sheets, hair gel, and newspaper, to create a massive 40-foot mural that depicted the U.S. justice system.

Over the course of several years, Krimes worked on the mural in secret, smuggling out individual panels with the help of fellow artists. When he was finally released from prison, he was able to see the mural in its entirety for the first time.

The film documents Krimes' emotional journey as he struggles to reconnect with his family and adjust to life outside of prison. He also faces the challenge of navigating the art world, which has taken notice of his incredible work but is hesitant to fully embrace an artist with a criminal record.

Through it all, Krimes remains determined to use his art to shed light on the injustices of the U.S. justice system and to inspire others who have faced similar struggles. Art & Krimes is a powerful and inspiring documentary that highlights the transformative power of art and the resilience of the human spirit.
