Arrhythmia is a 2017 Russian drama film directed by Boris Khlebnikov. The film deals with the strains on a married couple's relationship, while also exploring themes of dedication and morality in the healthcare industry.
The lead character, Oleg, is a talented and devoted paramedic who often goes above and beyond the call of duty to save his patients. He is also shown to be somewhat of a heavy drinker, which strains his already troubled marriage. Oleg's wife Katya is a nurse at the same hospital where he works, but she feels neglected and unimportant in her husband's life.
Their marriage becomes even more strained when a new head of the EMA department takes over, implementing strict rules and regulations that Oleg resents. He becomes increasingly rebellious and puts himself in danger to save patients, disregarding the new protocols. This puts him at odds with his new boss, who wants him to follow the rules and stick to company policy.
As Oleg and Katya's personal and professional lives spiral out of control, they are forced to face their issues head-on and find a way to reconnect and stay together. The film explores themes of sacrifice, dedication, and the challenging realities of working in the healthcare industry. It was well-received by critics and won numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the Kinotavr Film Festival in Russia.
