Army of the Dead is a 2021 American zombie heist film directed by Zack Snyder. The film stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi and Garret Dillahunt.
The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, which has been taken over by zombies. The US government has quarantined the city and is planning to nuke it off the face of the earth. Meanwhile, a casino owner hires a group of mercenaries led by Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) to break into a vault beneath one of the casinos and steal $200 million, before the nuke destroys everything.
The team includes Safecracker (Matthias Schweighöfer), Maria Cruz (Ana de la Reguera), Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), Marianne Peters (Tig Notaro), Mikey Guzman (Raúl Castillo), Martin (Garret Dillahunt), and Lily (Nora Arnezeder). After arriving in Las Vegas, the team fights their way through hordes of zombies to reach the casino.
However, they soon discover that the zombies are not ordinary ones and are being controlled by a highly intelligent and powerful alpha zombie (Hiroyuki Sanada). The alpha zombie is protecting a queen zombie, who is pregnant with a hybrid baby that is half-human and half-zombie.
The film is full of action and gore, with intense zombie showdowns and heist scenes. The dynamic between the characters is also well-developed and adds depth to the story. Army of the Dead is a fun and thrilling ride that offers a unique twist on the zombie genre.
