In Are You Happy Now, David is a 29-year-old man-child who has always relied on his wealthy parents for financial support. However, after his parents cut him off, David finds himself living with his girlfriend Jess and struggling to find a job.
Despite Jess's fear of commitment and marriage, David decides to propose to her as a means of finding happiness and stability in his life. Jess initially rejects him but eventually accepts the proposal, hoping that David will finally grow up and take responsibility for his life.
Meanwhile, David takes a job at a run-down chicken joint owned by a gruff but kind-hearted man named Carl. Though the job is menial and humbling for David, he begins to find purpose and fulfillment in it, thanks in part to the camaraderie he develops with his co-workers.
As David tries to navigate his new job and the complexities of his relationship with Jess, he also grapples with his own personal demons and the emotional wounds left by his troubled childhood. In the end, David must decide what truly makes him happy and whether he is willing to fight for it.
