The movie Aquamarine is a coming-of-age teen comedy/fantasy film. It stars Emma Roberts and JoJo as two best friends, Claire and Hailey, who are spending their summer together in a beach town. They are both struggling with different issues; Claire is worried about moving away and leaving her friend behind, while Hailey is dealing with the recent divorce of her parents.
One day, after a storm, the girls discover a mermaid named Aquamarine (Sara Paxton) in the local pool. Aquamarine is on a quest to prove to her father, the king of the mermaids, that true love exists. She has only three days to find love with a human, or she will have to marry a merman of her father's choosing.
Aquamarine enlists the girls' help in winning the heart of Raymond (Jake McDorman), a handsome lifeguard who works at the beach. The girls take on the challenge, and hilarity and chaos ensues as they try to teach Aquamarine about love and relationships.
Along the way, the girls also navigate their own personal issues, with Claire learning to let go of her fears and Hailey realizing that her parents' divorce doesn't define her.
The movie is a fun and heartwarming story about friendship, love, and growing up.
