In Apache Gold, the Great Western Railroad is being constructed by a diverse group of workers who all have different reasons for being involved. However, tensions rise between the railway company and local Indian tribes who are opposed to the railroad disrupting their land and way of life.

Things take a turn for the worse when Santer, a criminal gang leader, becomes aware of a gold mine located on holy Indian land. He sees an opportunity to exploit the mine for his own benefit, and uses his influence to sway the construction supervisor to re-route the railway straight through Apache territory.

Old Shatterhand, a measurement technician for the railway company, discovers the treacherous plan and realizes that it will likely lead to a violent conflict between the Apaches and the railroad workers. He decides to take matters into his own hands by seeking out the Apaches and attempting to negotiate a peaceful solution.

As Old Shatterhand tries to make contact with the Apaches, he must navigate treacherous terrain and risk his own safety to reach them. Along the way, he encounters a range of colorful characters, including the fiery gunslinger Fred Engel and the brave Apache warrior Winnetou.

Ultimately, Old Shatterhand succeeds in his mission and is able to broker a deal between the railway company and the Apache tribe. However, Santer is not so easily deterred and continues to scheme and plot against both the Apaches and the railroad workers. The movie builds to an epic showdown between the would-be gold miner and his adversaries, with Old Shatterhand and Winnetou leading the charge.
