Another Thin Man is a 1939 American film directed by W.S. Van Dyke and starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles. The film is the third in a series of films featuring the couple as amateur detectives. In this film, Nick and Nora are back in New York with their son, Nicky Jr. (played by William A. Poulsen), when they are invited to an estate on Long Island run by the wealthy and eccentric Colonel Burr MacFay (played by C. Aubrey Smith). However, when MacFay is murdered, Nick and Nora are drawn into another case and must use their wit and charm to solve the crime.
As they investigate, Nick and Nora meet a host of suspicious characters, including MacFay's estranged daughter (played by Virginia Grey), her fiancé (played by Patric Knowles), a conniving lawyer (played by Sheldon Leonard), and an unusual housekeeper (played by Esther Howard). Along the way, there are plenty of twists and turns, as well as humor and romantic banter between Nick and Nora.
Another Thin Man was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and it remains a beloved classic of the detective genre and one of the highlights of Powell and Loy’s on-screen partnership.
