Another Country is a 1984 British drama film directed by Marek Kanievska and starring Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, and Michael Jenn. It tells the story of Guy Bennett, a gay student at an English public school in the 1930s, who becomes a spy for the Soviet Union.

The film begins in Moscow in 1983, where an American journalist interviews Bennett about his time at school fifty years before. Through flashbacks, we see how Bennett struggles with his sexuality and how he becomes friends with the rebellious Marxist student Tommy Judd, played by Colin Firth.

As the two become closer, they start to question the values and class system of their school and society. Their disillusionment leads to Bennett's decision to become a spy for the Soviet Union.

The film explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the clash of ideals. It also highlights the oppression of homosexuality and the hypocrisy of the British class system.

Another Country is based on the play of the same name by Julian Mitchell, who also wrote the screenplay. The film was critically acclaimed and won several awards. It is considered a landmark film in British queer cinema.
