Another 48 Hrs. is a 1990 action-comedy film and sequel to the 1982 film 48 Hrs. The film follows Jack Cates, a San Francisco cop who is determined to capture the elusive drug kingpin known as the "Ice Man." When he discovers that the Ice Man has put a price on the head of Reggie Hammond, a convict and former friend of Jack's, who is due to be released from prison the next day, Jack sets out to protect Reggie and use him to finally capture the Ice Man.
Jack arranges for Reggie's release from prison and they embark on a wild and dangerous adventure, encountering a variety of unsavory characters and engaging in several high-speed car chases and shootouts. Along the way, they race against time to uncover the identity of the Ice Man and stop him before he can strike again.
The film stars Eddie Murphy as Reggie Hammond and Nick Nolte as Jack Cates, reprising their roles from the original film. The cast also includes Brion James, Andrew Divoff, and Kevin Tighe.
Directed by Walter Hill and written by John Fasano, Jeb Stuart, and Larry Gross, Another 48 Hrs. was a commercial success, grossing over $150 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film remains a popular and entertaining entry in the buddy cop genre.
