In the reformatory school, Rocky becomes the leader of the inmates and gains a reputation for being tough. Meanwhile, Jerry finds his calling and decides to become a priest. He returns to the neighborhood and tries to steer the local kids away from the influence of gangsters like Rocky.
Rocky returns to the neighborhood after his release from prison and tries to collect his money from his Solicitor. However, the Solicitor tells him that the money was lost in a bad investment. Rocky is furious and decides to take revenge on the people who betrayed him.
Rocky reunites with his old gang and starts planning a series of robberies. Jerry tries to stop him and warns him of the consequences of his actions. He reminds Rocky of their friendship and the values they shared as kids.
However, Rocky is determined to prove himself and his gang takes part in a daring robbery. The police catch up with them and a shootout ensues. Rocky tries to escape but is shot and killed by the police.
In the end, Jerry delivers a sermon about the life and death of Rocky. He tells the kids in the neighborhood that Rocky had a choice to make and he chose the wrong path. He reminds them that there are no shortcuts in life and that they need to work hard to achieve their goals.
