War,Drama  United Kingdom

Angels One Five is a 1952 British war drama film directed by George More O'Ferrall. It stars Jack Hawkins, Michael Denison, Dulcie Gray, John Gregson, and Veronica Hurst. The film depicts the experiences of a fictional Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot during the early stages of the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940.

The protagonist of the film is Pilot Officer T.B. Baird, who is nicknamed "Septic" due to his initials. He arrives straight out of flight school to join a front-line RAF squadron at the height of the Battle of Britain. The film shows his struggles to fit in with his fellow squadron mates, impress his Group Captain, and regain his pride after a drumming down from his commanding officer.

As the Battle of Britain intensifies, Baird faces numerous challenges. He struggles to come to terms with the high casualty rates among his fellow pilots and the psychological toll of sustained combat. There are also tensions with his fellow pilots, as Baird is seen as a newcomer who needs to prove himself before he is accepted by the group.

Despite these challenges, Baird and his fellow pilots manage to fight off the might of the Luftwaffe, despite overwhelming German air power. The film culminates in a dramatic sequence in which the RAF pilots fly a mission to intercept a large formation of German bombers and their fighter escorts. The Battle of Britain is a pivotal moment in World War II, and Angels One Five provides a gripping depiction of the experiences of the RAF pilots who fought in it.
