Angel Town is a 1990 American action film directed by Eric Karson and starring Olivier Gruner, Theresa Saldana, and Frank Aragon. The film follows the story of Jacques, a talented graduate student from France who comes to Los Angeles to study architecture. He rents a room in a run-down house owned by Angel, a single mother who lives there with her son, Jose.
Soon after his arrival, Jacques discovers that the neighborhood is ruled by a dangerous gang, led by the brutal and sadistic Angel. When Angel's gang tries to recruit Jose, Jacques steps in to intervene, using his martial-arts skills to protect the boy and his mother. However, in doing so, he puts himself in the crosshairs of the gang, who decide to make an example of him.
As Jacques becomes more involved in trying to stop the gang, he also finds himself falling in love with Angel, despite their opposing views and the danger they face. The film culminates in a violent showdown between Jacques and the gang, as he fights to protect Angel, Jose, and the other residents of the neighborhood.
Angel Town features intense action sequences and martial-arts choreography, with Olivier Gruner showcasing his skills as a trained kickboxer. The film also touches on themes of poverty, violence, and the struggle to survive in inner-city America, as well as the bonds of family and community that unite people in the face of adversity.
