An Exquisite Meal is a dark comedy that takes place at a dinner party hosted by a wealthy couple, Richard and Elizabeth. The other guests include their friends: Simon and Rachel, and a mysterious man named Nikolai. As the night unfolds, tensions rise and secrets are revealed.
The catalyst for the chaos is when Nikolai discovers that the main course is not the expected filet mignon but something much more unusual - a rare delicacy known as "long pig" - human flesh.
At first, the guests are repulsed and shocked, but things quickly devolve into a twisted game of sex and violence as the true nature of the characters is revealed. Richard and Elizabeth are not the philanthropic couple they appear to be; Simon and Rachel are not as happily married as they seem, and Nikolai's dark past is laid bare.
As the night wears on, the guests become increasingly unhinged, indulging in hedonistic pleasures while surrounded by the grotesque reminder of what they are eating. The tension builds to a shocking climax that leaves everyone changed - if not entirely satisfied.
An Exquisite Meal is a satire of the upper-class, a commentary on the façade we all present to the world, and a darkly humorous exploration of the lengths we will go to satisfy our desires.
